My Love Patzzi: Kim Rae-Won (Rooftop Room Cat) and Kim Jae-Won (Romance) star in "My Love Patzzi," an amusing and romantic parody of a popular Cinderella-like Korean folktale. In the folktale, Patzzi is the mean, ugly sister whom everyone hates. Kongzzi is the nice, pretty girl that ends up with the prince. However, in this parody, Kongzzi really isn't all that nice and Patzzi, although at times mischievous, t! omboyish, and rude, is actually a good-hearted, innocent girl.

Pop music star Jang Na-Ra is Song-Ee (Patzzi), who has been in competition with Hee-Won (Kongzzi) ever since elementary school. When it comes to guys, Hee-Won always wins, and she currently has the handsome Hyun-Sung (Kim Rae-Won) on a leash. So when the rich and successful Seung-Joon (Kim Jae-Won) enters the scene, Hee-Won naturally thinks he will fall for her too. But will Seung-Joon recognize a wolf in sheep's clothing?

Directed by Lee Jin-Seok (director of the K-drama classics All About Eve and Star in My Heart), "My Love Patzzi" is a story about forgiveness, understanding, finding the true meaning of happiness, and being the real "you." Catherine the Great

  • In this gripping, real-life fairy tale, a young German princess rises from relative obscurity to the Russian throne as one of the most remarkable monarchs in history--CATHERINE THE GREAT.A strange twist of fate in 1744 brings 15-year-old, foreign-born princess Sophia Fredericka (Catherine Zeta Jones) to the court of Empress Elizabeth of Russia (Jeanne Moreau) where she becomes Catherine II, the wi
A perfectionist chef addicted to her work struggles to adjust when her sister passes away leaving her with a little girl to raise and a new soup-chef threatens to take over her kitchen with his high-spirited and free-wheeling ways.Achieving balance in one's life can be a difficult process, but master chef Kate Armstrong (Catherine Zeta-Jones) leads a regimented, very ordered existence running the kitchen of an exclusive restaurant and revels in the sense of power and control her career affords. Whe! n Kate's sister is unexpectedly killed in an automobile accident and her 9-year old niece Zoe (Abigail Breslin) comes to live with Kate, Kate's life is turned completely upside down and she is suddenly forced to split her focus between work and family. Enter a newly hired, fun-loving, opera-singing sous chef Nick Palmer (Aaron Eckhart), whom Kate perceives as a serious rival, and thus begins an impassioned struggle on Kate's part to rein in Nick's exuberance and maintain control over her kitchen staff. Even as they clash, Kate is inexplicably drawn toward Nick, eventually coming to the realization that Nick offers something that she needs both in her restaurant kitchen and her new life with Zoe. Based on the screenplay for Mostly Martha, Catherine Zeta-Jones carries the lead well in this romantic comedy and there's a nice chemistry between herself and Aaron Eckhart as well as a poignant performance by Abigail Breslin. And, of course, and the food looks simply scr! umptious. --Tami HoriuchiWhen a priceless Rembrandt is ! stolen i n New York, the evidence points to a solitary master thief (Connery), who is about to meet the insurance company's most cunning - and seductive - investigator (Zeta-Jones). Following a nerve-racking game of cat and mouse, the two join forces, or so it seems, to attempt a daring multibillion-dollar heist tied to the dawn of the new millennium.Sean Connery plays a master thief thought to be long retired, while Katherine Zeta-Jones is his foil, a hotshot insurance investigator assigned to his case. They both have a little something to hold over each other's heads, until it turns out that Zeta-Jones is a professional art thief herself and is playing on both sides of the fence. At first they eye each other with mutual distrust until they team up for a job, which goes off without a hitch. Inevitably their prickly relationship begins to thaw somewhat, and the two become attracted to each other as they plan out the massive Y2K bank scam that is the movie's climax (complete with seq! uel-ready ending). Entrapment plays somewhat like a '70s caper movie revamped for the gadget-happy high-tech '90s. The plot takes a few too many labored twists and turns, and the chemistry between the two leads is nearly nonexistent, though both carry on gamely in their parts. On the other hand, there is some genuine suspense in many scenes as they go about their business, dripping with whiz-bang burglary devices. Zeta-Jones, of course, is drop-dead gorgeous, and Connery is as reliable as always in his role. The fairly flat editing and direction tends to drag the film down somewhat, but fans of caper movies, high-tech thrillers, and the two leads should find plenty to like in this film. --Jerry Renshaw INTOLERABLE CRUELTY - DVD MovieA sleek George Clooney and a seductive Catherine Zeta-Jones square off magnificently in the divorce comedy Intolerable Cruelty. The plot is simple: Lawyer supreme Miles Massey (Clooney, Out of Sight, Ocean's Eleven! ) skillfully outmaneuvers gold-digger Marylin Rexroth (Zet! a-Jones, Chicago, Traffic) when she divorces her wealthy husband--and she sets out to get revenge. But this movie comes from the creative minds of the Coen Brothers (Fargo, Raising Arizona, O Brother Where Art Thou?), and so Intolerable Cruelty includes a Scottish wedding chapel in Vegas, an asthmatic hit man, fluffy-dog-stroking European nobility, and a legendarily unbreakable pre-nuptial agreement. Still, it's pretty restrained for the Coens; smooth and consistent, it never stumbles as disappointingly as their movies can, but also never quite hits the operatic pitch of their best work. It's still damn funny, though, with top-notch performances from the leads as well as Geoffrey Rush, Cedric the Entertainer, and Billy Bob Thornton. --Bret FetzerA beautifully filmed drama about the rise of russias empress catherine ii and her steely determination to revolutionize her country in the mid-18th century. Studio: A&e Home Video Release Da! te: 02/27/2001 Starring: Emily Bruni Run time: 100 minutes Rating: NrRussian history occurs on a sweeping scale, but that takes a bigger budget than A&E can muster. So instead the cable network keeps its treatment of Russian empress Catherine II indoors as much as possible. That allows the camera to linger over the impossibly lovely face of Catherine Zeta-Jones, and the plot to focus on the political machinations of 18th-century Russia. Catherine goes from a bookish teen bride (her husband is the crazy and possibly impotent nephew of Russia's Empress Elizabeth) to the legendary empress who successfully concluded the Seven Years' War with Prussia, conquered Turkey, and put down a rebellion led by a Cossack pretending to be her long-dead husband.

The movie stumbles a bit when it ventures outdoors--it's hard to imagine Russia really conquered the Ottoman Turks with a 12-man army--but sizzles inside. Zeta-Jones conveys both passion and hard-edged ambition as h! er character transforms herself from manipulated to manipulat! or. Many of those manipulations occur in the bedroom, and the movie takes some liberties in portraying her union with military leader Grigory Potemkin (Paul McGann); here he's practically a saint, although history remembers him a bit less nobly.

The supporting cast includes Jeanne Moreau in a masterful portrayal of Empress Elizabeth, along with Ian Richardson, Mel Ferrer, and Omar Sharif. Although there's plenty of scenery for them to chew, they hold back, allowing Zeta-Jones her 100 minutes of greatness. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Sherry is a young woman with a history of drug abuse & emotional turmoil. Just out of prison she finds herself struggling against all odds to reconnect with her estranged 5-year-old daughter while trying to readjust to the outside world. Studio: Uni Dist Corp. (mca) Release Date: 01/23/2007 Starring: Maggie Gyllenhaal Brad William Henke Run time: 96 minutes Rating: RA disturbing film about a recovering drug addict trying to regain control of her life, Sherrybaby succinctly depicts what can happen when want and desire aren't offset by control. In this bleak indie film, Sherry Swanson (Maggie Gyllenhaal, Stranger Than Fiction, Secretary) has just been released from a three-year stint in prison. Dressed in her inappropriate uniform of a halter top and oh-so-high platform heels, she goes to brother's house to see her 5-year-old daughter, Lexie (Ryan Simp! kins). Sherry is determined to be a mother to her child, but without a home, job, or any other form of stability, she grows frustrated and jealous of her brother and sister-in-law's roles in Lexie's life. Tall and willowy, Gyllenhaal brings a sad desperation and simmering sexuality to the role. Sherry's middle-class childhood was a blur of sex and drugs, and she seems incapable of breaking out of that destructive trap. While the script by first-time feature film director Laurie Collyer isn't wholly original, the picture moves at a good pace, giving insight as to why Sherry's resigned to using sex to get what she wants. While the family secret doesn't come as a complete surprise, it is somewhat perplexing that no one addresses it. Ultimately, it's Gyllenhaal who makes you care about a character that most people would've given up on. --Jae-Ha KimLee Holloway (Maggie Gyllenhaal) has a few strikes against her when she applies for a secretarial position at the law office ! of E. Edward Grey (James Spader). At first the work seems quit! e normal but soon, in between typing, filing and coffee making, Lee and Mr. Grey embark on a more personal relationship together, crossing the lines of conduct that would give any human resource director the vapors! This kinky love story features a standout performance by Maggie Gyllenhaal, an offbeat young actress in her first starring role. Gyllenhaal plays Lee, a nervous girl who compulsively cuts herself, who gets a job as a secretary for Edward, an imperious lawyer (James Spader, an old hand at tales of perverse affection). Edward's reprimands for typos and spelling errors begin with mild humiliation, but as Lee responds to his orders--which are driven as much by his own anxieties and fears as any sense of order--the punishments escalate to spankings, shackles, and more. Secretary walks a fine line. It finds sly humor in these sadomasochistic doings without turning them into a gag, and it takes Lee and Edward's mutual desires seriously without getting self-right! eous or pompous. Certainly not a movie for everyone, but some people may be unexpectedly stirred up by this smart and steamy tale of repressed passion. --Bret FetzerHAPPY ENDINGS - DVD Movie"It's a comedy, sort of," a title card announces at the start of Happy Endings--just after Mamie (Lisa Kudrow) has been hit by a car. So it is, but talk about an unhappy beginning! Never fear, writer/director Don Roos will fulfill the promise of that title in several unexpected ways. The story then flashes back to 1983 for Mamie's life-altering encounter with her stepbrother. Mamie and Charley (Steve Coogan) will struggle with its consequences for the rest of the film. Does her teen pregnancy explain the fact that she became an abortion counselor or that he came out of the closet? Roos doesn't say, but nor does he judge. He loves his characters--foibles and all--in his ambitious, Altman-esque follow-up to the acerbic, yet heartfelt The Opposite of Sex. As before, ! Kudrow is the center around which the other plotlines revolve ! (and her uptight, yet likable Mamie couldn't resemble TV’s Phoebe less). In the end, though, Maggie Gyllenhaal's seductive Jude and Tom Arnold's sensitive Frank are Roos' most inspired creations. Their relationship is one of contemporary cinema's oddest and most touching. The happy ending for one will be real, the other imaginary, but everyone will earn the one they get. --Kathleen C. FennessyJohn C. Reilly, Diego Luna and Maggie Gyllenhaal navigate the con-or-be-conned world of the L.A. grift in a clever caper directed by Gregory Jacobs and produced by Jacobs, George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh. A $750,000 one-night score awaits Richard and Rodrigo if they can flimflam an antique-currency collector (Peter Mullan) - a ruse soon packed with more twists than a box of pretzels. For suspense, surprise and a wow ending, catch this Criminal!Richard Gaddis (John C. Reilly) catches young Rodrigo (Diego Luna) conning some casino waitresses out of chump change and decides the guy i! s just the right chump to help him run other local scams. The slyest thing about this diverting remake of the 2000 Argentinian heist flick Nine Queens is, in fact, how much everybody seems to have a scam in the works--there isn’t a single honest soul in sinful, sunbeaten Los Angeles. Richard and Rodrigo soon get caught up in a big swindle concerning some counterfeit currency, a game that ensnares Gaddis’ angrily estranged sister Valerie (Maggie Gyllenhaal), the concierge of the hotel that’s hosting the guys’ main mark (Peter Mullan, coolly brutish). What happens next isn’t really anything new--The Sting, anyone?--and the requisite final twist might not hold up to closer inspection, but director Gregory Jacobs knows how to lie back and it keep it gliding affably along (he served as an assistant director on nearly all of Steven Soderbergh’s films). The performers all hook into the low-key vibe: Reilly’s schlub persona fits snugly into his small-tim! e grifter role, while Luna and Gyllenhaal seem more simmering ! and sexy in each new shot. The movie is as entertaining and inessential as L.A. itself. --Steve WieckingHigh quality import edition, manufactured in Brazil . Amateur Porn Star Killer 2 (Special 2-Disk Edition)

  • This sequel to the 2007 film AMATEUR PORN STAR KILLER is a further shocking entry on the resume of controversial filmmaker Shane Ryan. The film follows a deranged serial killer who poses as a filmmaker to lure women into his lair. Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: HORROR Rating: NR Age: 891514001702 UPC: 891514001702 Manufacturer No: EPO-DV1702
Special Two Disc Edition containing the original "Movie" version & the "Snuff" version, the way the killer intended.

Shane Ryan's sequel to the disturbing Amateur Porn Star Killer is a brutal calling card to all those who were enraged by its predecessor (and there were many). Ryan is a force to be reckoned with, and he's not letting up any time soon.

The victim here isn't a young girl. This one doesn't just go quietly, either. She fights back. She knows she's in trouble, but she mistakenly thinks she can get away. In other movies, she woul! d escape and somber music would play as the credits creep up the screen. The audience would leave the theatre satisfied that the bad guy got what he deserved. They would go home feeling safe. Ryan doesn't let anyone have such notions. He shows things as they really are. This is what a killer would film. This is how it would look, and if you didn't know any better, you'd swear it was real. (And you still can't be totally sure it's not.)

Amateur Porn Star Killer 2 is not a rehash of the first film. It's a continuation, the next step in Ryan's world of raw horror. It has transcended the label of exploitation cinema and now has its feet firmly planted in the wet ground of artistic snuff. Bothered yet? In a little over an hour you will be, and you'll hate Ryan for it.

Ryan, with the first APSK, eradicated the boundaries of acceptable cinema. With this film he's taken over the territory, and it's doubtful any other director has the guts or skills to snatch the kingdom ! away from him.

Prepare yourself. This is going to leave ma! rks.

From Todd Solondz, the critically acclaimed director of Welcome to the Dollhouse comes a film comprised of two separate stories set against the sadly comical terrain of college and high school, past and present. Following the paths of its young hopeful/troubled characters, it explores issues of sex, race, celebrity and exploitation. Todd Solondz, director of the acclaimed Welcome to the Dollhouse and the controversial Happiness, continues pushing the envelope of social decorum with the ! merciless and casually cruel Storytelling, his most ruthless satire of suburban complacency. Broken into two unrelated chapters, "Fiction" follows college girl Selma Blair through a degrading encounter with her resentful writing teacher (Robert Wisdom), while the more sprawling and scattershot "Non-Fiction" circles around the mutual exploitation of a fumbling documentary filmmaker (Paul Giamatti doing a near-parody of director Solondz) and his clueless subject, a suburban high school slacker named Scooby (Mark Webber). The squirmy laughs are laced with humiliation and the satire is acidic and cynical; in the world of Solondz, victims and victimizers alike are petty, selfish, vindictive, and thoughtless, and empathy is strictly rationed. Though sharply written and well directed, this misanthropic vision is strictly for daring filmgoers and Solondz fans. --Sean AxmakerMolly Shannon (Saturday Night Live) and Selma Blair (Legally Blonde) bring their comedy talents! to the sassy and fashionably funny series Kath & Kim. Kath (S! hannon), a foxy 40-something, and Kim (Blair), a self-absorbed suburban princess, are forced to reevaluate their hilariously askew mother-daughter relationship when Kim moves home after just a few weeks of marriage. Join them in every fun Season One episode as they aspire to be just like the pop culture celebrities they love while dealing with the more down-to-earth men in their lives. Based on the successful Australian series of the same name comes this hilarious, tongue-in-cheek look at relationships that has plenty of outrageous style to spare! The American version of Kath & Kim, based on the wildly successful Australian sitcom, owes as much to its talented lead actresses, Molly Shannon (Kath) and Selma Blair (Kim), as to its witty premise, and the combination makes the series a lovely guilty pleasure.

Mother (Kath) and daughter (Kim) are obsessed with celebrity culture and fancy themselves celeb wannabes in their own mall-centric world. Both actresses have perfected the! red-carpet catwalk, for instance, with the perfect hair-toss, which nobody but each other--and the viewer--really notices. One of the best bits about the two leads is their penchant for mangling words as they put on airs (think Archie Bunker meets Married with Children…). The malapropos alone make the series worth watching. In making some silly point, Kath declares, in her closing line: "Ipso fatso." Argument won. But if Kath and Kim are shallower than the Los Angeles River, they do have big hearts underneath--which gives the series its balance.

Extras include deleted scenes, a gag reel that's truly over-the-top, and spot-on commentary by stars Shannon, Blair, Mikey Day, and John Michael Higgins, as well as the show's executive producers and writers. A lot of talent goes into making these women so perfectly dim. --A.T. Hurley "SWEETEST THING - DVD MoviePrudes, beware! Despite its tendency to take the comedic low road, The Sweetest Thing is a near! -perfect product of the new-millennial Hollywood. That's a bac! khanded compliment, but as a fun-loving Yankee girl's answer to Bridget Jones's Diary, the mainstream pandering of Nancy Pimental's lucrative screenplay is undeniably effective. On the opening soundtrack, Macy Gray's "Sexual Revolution" is a perfect accompaniment to gyrating guy-dumper Christina (Cameron Diaz), whose fear of commitment is tested when she meets Peter (Thomas Jane) and knows he's Mr. Right. With supportive gal-pals Courtney (Christina Applegate) and Jane (Selma Blair), she plots to snag the guy, and the movie's road-trip detour mines gut-busting gold from gags involving incriminating dress stains, oral sex, rotting food, garish clothing, and the simple joys of old-fashioned romance. Perfectly cast, raucously ribald, and conventionally charming, The Sweetest Thing is a schizophrenic comedy, but its dual personalities are irresistibly in synch. --Jeff ShannonFour college friends meet up again years later and reconnect in ways that will change their ! lives forever.Still sealed in plastic wrap. Sexy temptress Megan Fox is hotter than hell as Jennifer, a gorgeous, seductive cheerleader who takes evil to a whole new level after she’s possessed by a sinister demon. Now it’s up to her best friend (Amanda Seyfried) to stop Jennifer's reign of terror before it's too late!

There's always a good girl and a bad girl in a movie like Jennifer's Body--but in this case the good girl is crazy and the bad girl is way, way evil. At least somebody thinks good girl Needy (Amanda Seyf! ried, from Mamma Mia!) is crazy: when the movie begins she's narrating from a psychiatric hospital, and the rest of the film is a flashback that explains her incarceration. It's all connected to longtime friend Jennifer (Megan Fox), a saucy high-school temptress, who mysteriously survives a horrific night out and transforms into a supernaturally powerful force with a taste for human blood. There's certainly some genre kick to this stuff, almost none of which is played straight--how could it be, with Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody penning the script? Yes, all those crackly, slang-peppered one-liners you loved (or hated) in Cody's Juno are back, with a vengeance. There's actually something more honest about the nastiness of the dialogue in Jennifer's Body, which at least doesn't try to corkscrew back into the heartwarming ambitions of Juno. Among the targets of Cody's satire are Needy's nice-guy beau (Johnny Simmons), a one-armed to! upeed teacher (J.K. Simmons), and a satanic rock singer (Adam ! Brody). The raging hormones and bodily changes of teendom have always lent themselves to metaphorical usefulness in horror movies, but Cody doesn't ring many new changes on the device, beyond the brutal hilarity of her dialogue. That leaves us with showroom-ready Megan Fox, whose buffed sheen is just right for her soulless character. --Robert Horton
